Classical Armenian Valency Lexicon

CAVaL allows to retrieve complete lists of sentences with predicate-argument structures specified in the search interface. Currently, the search engine only provides access to the attestations of predicates that are expressed by synthetic and analytic personal verb forms (finite verb forms and participles with dependent auxiliary verbs em ‘to be’ and linim ‘to become’).

The following search options are currently available.

  1. To search for a specific verb

    1. type the verb into the search bar (see the latinized input conventions below) or,
    2. choose the verb from a complete list of verbs on the home page, arranged alphabetically or by frequency.

Armenian input աբգդեզէըթժ իլխծկհձղճ մյնշոչպջռս վտրցւփքօֆ
    Transliteration abgdezēǝž ilxckhjłč mynšočʽpǰs vtrwawf
  2. Specify one or more dependencies by choosing their syntactic relation and/or morphological encoding (see Annotation) and/or lemma in the left-side field of the search interface. A configuration of several dependencies can be selected using the "Add" and "Remove" buttons. Application of each dependency parameter dynamically updates the output sentence list and restricts the application of additional parameters until the output is empty.

The search options 1 and 2 can be combined in any order and then restrict each other.
